This inscription was recorded in an earlier survey completed
in 1971 by Miss Jenny Brown and Miss Margaret Warren.

Sacred to the memory of The Revd John Lumsden Minister of the Parish of Whittingham who died 15th April 1850 in the 86th year of his age and the 46th of his faithful ministry. Also of his spouse Isabella Dale who died 25th April 1859.

Rev. John Lumsden was minister of Whittingehame from 1804 until 1847.
