HE WAS LAND STEWARD AT MERRYHATTON FOR 37 YEARS.
THOMAS, HIS GRANDSON, DIED IN INFANCY
GILBERT ANDERSON, ONLY SON OF THE ABOVE
THOMAS ANDERSON, DIED IN CANADA ON THE
8TH NOVEMBER 1893.


This inscription was recorded in an earlier survey completed
in 1971 by Miss Jenny Brown and Miss Margaret Warren.
Erected by Gilbert Anderson in memory of Jean Johnstone his wife who died at Papple 5th August 1804 aged 36 years. Gilbert Anderson died at Mkle Pinkerton 8th July 1850 aged 85 years, In memory of Jane eldest daughter of Thomas Anderson who died at Merry Hatton 16th July 1859 aged 27 years Also Christain Robertson wife of Thomas Anderson who died at Merry Hatton 23rd Decr 1859 aged 59 years, Here also lies buried Thomas Anderson above named who died at North Berwick 1st Dec 1882 in his 80th year. He was Land Steward at Merry Hatton for 37 years. Thomas his grandson died in infancy. Gilbert Anderson only son of the above Thomas Anderson died in Canada on the 8th November 1893.
