This inscription was recorded in an earlier survey completed
in 1971 by Miss Jenny Brown and Miss Margaret Warren.

Here lyes Archibald Cran, Mason tenant in Milridghal. Born Decr 12th 1685 died Jan 25th 1752 and Robert Cran. Mason son to Archibald Cran and Elizabeth Wallace his spouse. Born Augt 5th 1742 died June 6th 1766. Also the said Elizabeth Wallace born Janr 19th 1701 died May 8th 1767.

Archibald Craw (sic) helped build the first kirk in 1721-2, working with his father, Robert. The cost was estimated at £121 5s 8d (excluding glazing).
