[?IAME]S FERMER . . . .KEA[TH]RIN THOMSO[N] WHO DIED 1693

In 1678 Robert Fermer was granted the privilege of erecting a throughstone (flat gravestone) in the old kirkyard, at a cost of £2 9s. The stone was brought to the present yard after 1721.
