This inscription was recorded in an earlier survey completed
in 1971 by Miss Jenny Brown and Miss Margaret Warren.
Here lies the bodies of William Broun Tenant in Paple who died 7th March 1792 aged 61 years, Also James Broun aged 4 and James Broun aged 1 his sons.

In 1759 William Broun was allocated seats (pews) nos. 35-7 (out of 40) in the kirk for his personal use.
