in MEMORY of
MARGARET GRIEVE, his Wife,
and of
ELIZABETH BLACKIE, his Daughter
and only child;
Who departed this life, at a very
short interval from each other;
The Latter,
On the 23d day of March, 1823,
in the 31st Year of her age;
And, the former,
On the 25th of May following;
aged 64 years;
To the unspeakable grief of a surviving Husband,
bereaved of a pious and loving Wife, and of an
afflicted Father, for the loss of a virtuous
and dutiful Daughter.

who departed this life,
on Tuesday the 12th February,
1833, aged 65;
Deeply regretted by all who
knew him; especially by the
Family at Biel; where he had
lived, as Head Gardener; a
faithful and devoted Servant,
for the space of 44 years.


Robert Blackie was an Elder of the Kirk. An entry in the Mortcloth Dues says: 'Feb. 17 1833 To Mortcloth for Mr Blackie 10s 6d'
