James Yorkston married Elizabeth Purves in 1746 and raised a family in Stenton. James Yorkston, ‘servant to the late Lord Belhaven’, had a tack from Biel Estate for a house and garden in Stenton running from 1776 to 1795 and beyond. Robert Yorkston was born in Innerwick in 1747. A Mortcloth Dues entry says: ‘1764 September 23 the big plush cloth and half of the little bell for Robert Yorkston in the parish £2. 3s’.
