Archibald Bartleman, the son of Archibald Bartleman, Ploughman, and Margaret Murray, was a Joiner and Wright at Biel, living at Biel Hill. Peter Bartleman was also a Joiner and Jessie was a Domestic Servant in East Linton. Jessie Sutherland, Archibald's second wife, was the daughter of Daniel Sutherland, Fisherman, and Catherine Mitchell. Daniel was the son of Jessie Sutherland and Peter Bartleman and he became a Mechanical Engineer in Edinburgh. He remained unmarried.
