Alexander Duncanson was a Joiner, initially in Edinburgh, then in Stenton where he died. His parents were Alexander Duncanson, a Veterinary Surgeon, and Helen Sherriff. He was a member of the Founding Committee to establish the Stenton Bowling Club in 1876. Eliza Bell's parents were Robert Bell, Miller, and Mary White. At the time of her marriage she was a Dressmaker at Duddingston Mills in Edinburgh. By 1901 she was living at Kirkside Cottage in Stenton with her daughter Helen, an Assistant Teacher at Stenton School.
