By his eight Sons,
To the memory of GEORGE SHIEL;
who departed this life, on the 30th of
April 1840, in the 57th year of his age.
He was 28 years Shepherd in Beltondod
and much respected by all who knew him.
Also
his Daughter JANET who died 15th
April 1840, aged 14 years. Also
his Son ALEXANDER who died
27th July 1846, aged 17 years
HIS WIFE ELSPETH TROTTER. DIED JANRY. 25TH
1862. AGED 77 YEARS.
HIS SON WILLIAM. DIED APRIL 21ST 1871 AGED
60 YEARS.
HIS DAUGHTER ALISON DIED 1ST MAY 1903
AGED 83 YEARS.

George Shiel was a Shepherd. Elspeth Trotter was the daughter of William Trotter and Elspeth Laurie. William Shiel, a Joiner, died unmarried in East Linton, as did his sister Alison.
