William Ness was a Farm Grieve at Deuchrie Farm where he raised a large family. His parents were James Ness, a Ploughman, and Isabella Sked, an Outworker, the daughter of Christopher Sked, Blacksmith, and Elizabeth Goodall. Isabella Sked died at Deuchrie Farm, on 19 April 1902. Margaret Black died at Acredales, Stenton, where Jane (‘Jeannie’) Ness lived. Her parents were Alexander Black, Shepherd, and Jessie Yorkston. Alexander Ness is named on the Stenton War Memorial.
