DEAR MOTHER THOU HAS LEFT US,
HERE THY LOSS WE DEEPLY FEEL,
BUT TIS GOD WHO HAS BEREAVED US,
HE CAN ALL OUR SORROWS HEAL.


James Blair was a Labourer and latterly a Mason whose parents were James Blair and Janet Caxton. His first wife Helen King was the daughter of James King, Shepherd, and Helen Kinghorn. Between 1847 and about 1863, they lived initially in Stenton village and then at Blakelaws.
