Alexander Begbie was a Merchant in Stenton who also tenanted some fields round Stenton. His Will was registered in Edinburgh on 22 December 1786. John Begbie was a Farmer and his Will was registered in Edinburgh on 24 February 1823. He was the Treasurer of the Stenton Association for Graveyard Protection in 1821. Alison Begbie's Will was registered in Haddington on 8 May 1832. Mary Begbie died aged 55 years. The Mortcloth Dues show the following entries: ‘July 9 1775 For the best Mortcloth to Mrs Begbie in the parish 6s 8d’, ‘16 Feb 1783 For the new Mortcloth to Alexander Begbie 10s 6d’ and ‘15 Oct 1780 the new Mortcloth for Nelly Begbie.’
