John MacPherson, a Joiner in Stenton Village, was the son of John MacPherson, Flax Dresser/Builder, and Janet Campbell. He died on 1 March 1861. Campbell MacPherson was a Distillery Manager, the son of John MacPherson, Joiner, and Janet Anderson. Jane Porter was his second wife. Margaret MacPherson married Walter Muir, Ironmonger. She died 17 January 1906.

Footnote added 5th June, 2007:
Research into the Macpherson family history has revealed that Jane Porter Macpherson died in 1895, and not in 1885 as recorded from the stone.
