The Croumbie/Crombies were a prominent family in Stenton throughout the 18th Century. The Session Records show: ‘19 August 1694 Given to the poor be William Crombie and Helen Kellie at their Marriage 12s’. A Mortcloth Dues entry says: ‘Jan 3 1725 For the great bell and best cloth to William Crombie £3. 6s’.
