David Smith was a Gamekeeper living at Woodend. His parents were Peter Smith, Gamekeeper, and Jane Laing. His wife Janet was the daughter of Robert Wardrop, Goods Guard, and Ann Miller. Annie Smith, daughter of David and Janet Smith, lived at Woodend for many years and died 31 March 2006.
