John Cockburn was a Baker at St Mary's, Stenton, where he died. His father was Thomas Cockburn, a Grocer, and his mother was Catherine Jeffrey. He was very active in village life and is recorded as having been on the Committee of the Stenton Leek Society in 1861. He was a member of the Founding Committee set up to establish Stenton Bowling Club in 1876. Alison Trotter's father was Thomas Trotter, Butcher, and his mother was Marion Kirkwood [See No 76]. William Trotter was a Baker, latterly living at Acredales, Stenton. James Strachan was a Civil Engineer who married Maria Cockburn. He was the son of George Strachan and Margaret Thomson [See No 72]. Alice Strachan lived at Acredales in Stenton Village and was a Radiotherapist. Sarah was the daughter of Thomas Cockburn and Phoebe Philip. Constance Strachan was the daughter of George Strachan, Baker, and Lavinia Webster [See No 314]. She was the wife of J. E. Clarkson who was a Private in the Scots Guards. He was killed at Anzio and is commemorated at Minturno War Cemetery.
