John Jeffrey's father was James Jeffrey, a Shepherd, and his mother was Jane Wood, the daughter of James Wood and Christina Dunlop. James Wood was a Shepherd at Priestlaw, Whittingehame, where Jane was born in 1792. Isabella Jeffrey's parents were Nicol Jeffrey, a Farm Steward, and Jane Ramsay. Sophia Clapperton was the daughter of James Clapperton, the Farmer in Garvald Grange Farm, sister of Jessie [See Nos 200 and 202] and niece of Andrew and Georgina Purves [See Nos 199 and 201]. Elizabeth Adamson was the daughter of David Adamson, Farmer, and Margaret Robb. Her husband John was the son of John Jeffrey and Sophia Clapperton.
