AGED 14 YEARS
Beneath this verdant sod remains the clay
Of one whose spirit soon was called away.
From all the weary toil, the jarring strife,
And transient charm's that chequer busy life.
It pleased her MAKER to endue her mind
With virtues of no ordinary KIND
Her tender heart these duties understood
To be obedient, placid, meek and good.
And to repay by service meet as rare,
Her debt of love, for a fond Mother's care.
Say reader, now thou knowest her simple story,
If it befits to think her safe in glory.
Belief professing in a SAVIOUR'S name
Who to redeem a world of sinners came.
