Mr & Mrs Dakers managed the Coffee House (4 School Road, now Abbeyfield) in the 1890s. Their son Robert A. Dakers was editor of the "Haddingtonshire Courier" (now "East Lothian Courier"). He was a very talented amateur painter who encouraged the Haddington artist William Gillies (1898 - 1973).
