George Sinclair, 1847 - 1917, took over the running of Linton Orchard from his father, John, and moved to another market garden at Knowes Mill in 1900. He was a Police Commissioner in East Linton for many years and a keen curler and bowler. His son, Norman, was wounded by a lioness while he was out on military duty as an Intelligence Scout on the South-West border of Northern Rhodesia, on May 9, 1915, and died soon after.
